The 2010 Soccer World Cup was an exciting event.
Major construction works had go be initiated to accommodate the event, with Soccer City alone over R 1 Billion in construction value.
Cell phone communications was obviously high on the list of must haves, and Koos Uys worked on all 10 of the stadiums to prepare the highly specialised rooms for MTN.
The stadiums were as follows:
- Soccer City (Soweto)
- Ellis Park (Johannesburg)
- Loftus Versveld (Pretoria)
- Peter Mokaba (Polokwane)
- Moses Madiba (Durban)
- Royal Bafokeng (Rustenburg)
- Nelson Mandela (Port Elizabeth)
- Mbombela (Nelspruit)
- Green Point (Cape Town)
- Vodacom Park (Bloemfontein)
BTS Rooms have extremely high density services and due to the compactness of these rooms, coordination must be done precisely.
MTN have set the goal that this team will build better rooms that what they have seen in Germany, and when all was finished we got message that this goal was achieved!
According to feedback years later, this 10 rooms have been of the most reliable.
The mechanical services provided were as follows:
- Close Control HVAC (DX and Chilled Water)
- FM200 Fire Suppression
- Fire Alarm with VESDA
- BMS Integration
