Fume hoods and laminar flow cabinets are essential in laboratories to protect scientists from harmful gasses and viruses.
Strangely, flow alarms on these cabinets are not mandatory which means lab technicians can work without protection, without warning.
There are however quite a few flow alarms on the market today. None of it are offering the functions I thought was needed for safety, so I decided to design the best fume hood flow alarm.
Lets then start with the advanced model.
It has the following features that is absolutely unique to this controller:
- The Flow sensor is not exposed to cabinet air like with other flow alarms - crucial for corrosive environments.
- It has a unique siren/strobe function with emergency button function where a lab technician can "call" for help.
- It has a touch screen, with custom logo.
- It can work with or without a touch screen.
- It has a RS-485 communications port, so that it can interface with a BMS system.
- It can drive a motorised sash.
- It has Variable Volume Air Volume.
This controller is in a class of its own. There is no other controller in the world that can offer such a complete list of functions. It is suitable for the highest end fume hood products.
The basic model does not have RS-485, the Siren/strobe, or the motorised sash function. This model just offers what the other flow alarms in the market offers, plus a touch screen that can be customised.
